Understanding Window Tint Percentages (VLT) When choosing a window tint, the most important term to know is VLT (Visible Light Transmission). This percentage indicates how much visible light passes through the glass. The lower the percentage, the darker the tint.

70% - 75% VLT: Nearly transparent. This is often the factory standard, offering excellent heat rejection and UV protection without visibly darkening the glass.

35% - 50% VLT: Medium tint. A highly popular choice that provides a sleek look, reduces glare, and keeps the cabin cool while maintaining clear visibility.

5% - 20% VLT: Dark to "Limo" tint. Offers maximum privacy and shade. It is ideal for keeping rear passengers comfortable and securing items left in the back seat.

Greek Window Tint Law (What is Legal?)

To pass the Greek MOT (KTEO) and avoid fines from the Traffic Police, your vehicle must comply with official Greek Legislation (ΦΕΚ 1069/Β/2008). Here are the exact legal limits you need to follow:

Front Windshield: Minimum 75% VLT (allows 75% of light in).

Front Side Windows (Driver & Passenger): Minimum 70% VLT.

Rear Side Windows & Rear Windshield: No limit (Any % is allowed), provided your vehicle is equipped with both left and right exterior side mirrors.

Important Restrictions: Reflective or "mirror" tints are strictly prohibited on all windows. Drivers with specific, medically documented dermatological or eye conditions may be exempt from the front window limits via an official medical board certificate.
